poster.
Let's meet, connect, contribute and celebrate.
I recently moved from the commercial hub Lagos to Abuja the seat of power.
To my surprise Abuja is not mapped as I was expecting. About 60% of Abuja is not mapped.
Let's take advantage of this year's independence Day celebration to map some part of Central Business District of FCT Abuja.
Date: October 1st 2022
Time: 930am to 12pm
Meeting point: Central Park Abuja
Dress smartly as we may walk around.
Also come with your fully charged phones and cameras for there are lots to add to maps...
See you...

Thanks for putting this up @Sagir, I hope to join you on this one.
A lot of places in Abuja remain unmapped, that's true. But i doubt if that "60% unmapped" data is true. I beg to differ, even from estimation.
Abuja is an urban city which a lot every new city dweller i have come across never find trouble locating roads, POIs, and getting suggestions with Google maps. However, we need more people to get edits and update information as changes happen often in recent times.

Also @Sagir, take note. There is going to be parade this Saturday to mark Independence Day (1st October). The Central Park is right close to the Eagle square where the parade takes place. The entire central area perimeter is usually blocked. The president alongside other presidents and dignitaries would be present..
I would like to suggest you move it evening time after the parade or so

Hi @Nuhuu
You are right Parade will take place at the Eagles square and access will restricted around the Central business district but it will not affect central park axis. More so most of the restriction is on vehicle movements.
Thanks for your concern but the meet up will hold as scheduled.

This is a good initiative.
I was surprised that many places are either poorly mapped or the map markers are wrongly placed when I visited too.
I think the indigenes don't rely as much on Maps to get around unlike those of us who visit or who are newly relocated.
For some the places that are marked, there is no picture!
I did a lot when I visited that area.
I was surprised that; at the time even the Jabi Mall had no 360 imagery.
I wish you all the best @Sagir
Now, where will you park when you attend this meetup @Nuhuu ?
