One of the things Local Guides do best is share what they know to inspire others to find the best places. You consider everyone: families with children, people who use wheelchairs, and even fellow tapas lovers!

Time and again, we’ve been inspired by how much you champion inclusivity and support the LGBTQ+ community. In fact, right here on Connect, you exchange tips for LGBTQ+ friendly contributions and recommend great LGBTQ+ friendly places. And on Google Maps, you share helpful lists and reviews that help both businesses and people.

As we wrap up Pride Month, it's now easier than ever to identify LGBTQ+ owned businesses on Google Maps thanks to the new LGBTQ+ owned attribute on Google Maps.

Verified merchants in the United States can now opt-in to show that they are an LGBTQ+ owned business on their Business Profiles. Just like our Black-owned, Latino-owned, veteran-owned, and women-owned business attributes, this new attribute will appear on a business’s profile on Google Maps and Search — helping them stand out to customers and provide another way to support diverse businesses.

Here’s how you can show your support:

  • If you're an LGBTQ+ business owner in the U.S., visit the Help Center to learn how to add the attribute to your Business Profile.
  • Tell the LGBTQ+ owned businesses you know about this new feature.
  • Help LGBTQ+ owned businesses in your community by adding recent photos, helpful reviews, and the globally available LGBTQ+ friendly and Transgender safespace attributes where applicable.
  • Create lists of your favorite places or must-visit spots — to share with friends or to keep track of for later. Here’s a list of colorful rainbow crosswalks for inspiration!
