Personalized Tagging List

New Button for Tag listNew Button for Tag list

Hi friends,

I am really struggling to tag Local guides, moderators and googlers in my post. As the Local guide community is very big and many having similar names, I find it very difficult to type & find the correct person for tagging.

Many using different methods to customize their tagging list.  Therefore, if there is a dedicated category for adding a list of people for the tag will be very helpful and timesaving.

Expecting your suggestions and support,

Thanks in advance,

John Peter

HI, I would like to propose the possibility of better tagging options in a post. When we type the "@" sign there is automatic generation of local guide usernames but it's not very user-friendly. In the sense sometimes I know the local guides name and partial username but even after typing half of it - its a 50/50 chance that username will pop-up, therefore i propose that the tagging suggestion would be based on:

1. The common/most recent local guide users you interact with.

2. If its a general user you are looking for than to stack them according to say their level (I may want to tag my friend Omer Ali and i know what level he is but there might be many Omer that pop-up before the real Omer Ali shows up) - I hope that made sense. See the attached image, the list is not according to level and if i don't type with a capital "O" or in the correct form then i may never find that user.

@OmerAli - I am using you as an example 🙂

Thanks.

Wow, glad someone came up with this .

Thanks @Tula

I absolutely wanted this to be fixed.

This only works well if you know the complete username of your friend.

Like Faraz said, if the Upper and Lower case also makes difference, and ofcourse the spelling completely changes the scenario.

Also, If you type away speedily, it skips the options and sometimes gives you a completely different result.

e.g. I tag @ErmesT very often . I know his username by heart and just because I know it by heart and its spellings are short and easy, I type in ballistic mode and that's when I start getting every other option other than the desired/right username.

For some, this voting call would be stupid. But, for me, it is absolutely THE MOST WANTED fix we need

Thanks once again @Tula

Thank you for the tag @OmerAli , and for the meaning of it.

Tagging system, as we can see from your screenshot, @Tula , has been improved, as in the past we were able to chose only on a list of 5-6 users, while now we have a long list available.

I know that I spoke about this during the beta phase of the new Connect, but probably I never transformed my thought on an Idea. My proposal was to have a more efficient pop-up, with the possibility to choose between:

A) Moderators, with a list of moderators only, for an easy way to tag if you need help

B) The list of all the users in the thread (not only the last five)

C) All the other users

Completely agree with you. It's very difficult to tape the right username especially if you don't remember it for sure. As for me I use the "copy / paste" method, but it's not so easy to past something in the field near the sign @.

So I can add that the button "answer" near each post and comment will be very helpful too.

Anything that would make it easier to connect on Connect would be very much appreciated!

There are many times when I am trying to compose a post and I have to go to other sources to get a person's correct username so I might tag them.

I would love it if I could easily tag @Tula  and @OmerAli as easily as in this post.  😁

I would imagine that there is some concern for spamming.  Perhaps those with privacy concerns would be happy if there was somewhere to make their profile hidden as opposed to public.

I can agree with @ErmesT that the mention option has greatly improved from what it was but i am sure a better way to index can be done. I enjoy writing posts and making comments but get a heavy feeling in my stomach when i have to start looking for usernames to tag to the point i at times just don't take people because it is too much work.

@OmerAli I can imagine you struggling with your supersonic typing and burst of ideas!! You are always coming up with cool concepts to engage people.

@KimberlyAnnG Agreed, if there is an option to opt in to prevent being indexed due to privacy issue could be looked into for people to choose from.

@OlgaKlimchik True, sometimes the copy paste option doesn't always help especially if the board doesn't recognize the "@" sign and the text next to it.

Copy / paste method does't work @OlgaKlimchik

The tag is generated by the system, that starts by typing the @ symbol on the post, and generate a message to the tagged person, linked to the post where the tag is

@ErmesT

Now in this discussion I couldn't repeat it, but in Connect Live 2019 discussion I managed, though it was hard. But it's difficult to remember the names espeсially when the post I want answer is several pages before.

I agree with you @OlgaKlimchik , and I voted for this idea. What I am telling you is that Copy / paste a tag doesn't work (no notification). What I actually do is, before to reply, to open on another tab the profile of the person I want to mention
