Waste Disposal Awareness through Google Maps

Hey Google Team, I have got an idea.

Idea: To make waste disposal awareness through our Google Maps Review.

The Question arises, how it can be implemented. I am putting down two solutions:

  1. Solution 1 : Adding Waste Disposal Pro-Tip as an additional option beneath Delete Review  or next to share option. Once we select that above option, Google Maps should add the fixed statement automatically to our Google Review.

Solution 1 implementation View. Screenshot Below:

2. Second Solution:  Adding Pro-Tip option as an additional option beneath Delete Review  or next to share option. And, Waste Disposal Pro-Tip can be added under the Pro-Tip option as an subcategory. This will create room for other sub-categories.

Solution 2 implementation View. Screenshot Below:

Waste Disposal as sub-category under Pro-Tip optionWaste Disposal as sub-category under Pro-Tip option

Example - If we select the Waste Disposal Pro-Tip Option or Pro-Tip option while writing Google Review. Then, Google Maps to add fixed statement as : "Waste Disposal Pro-Tip : Use the nearest bin for waste disposal. Keep your City Clean and Green"

Google maps team can add their own fixed standard statement. I just shared the sample one for better understanding.

Please NOTE: Bold as the preferred font for the fixed standard statement as it will act as differentiator in the Google Review and will be visible as an Important Pro-Tip.

Team, let me know if you need further information.

Hi @AnubhaBangia

Thanks for sharing your idea.

For clarification I would like to know if you see the pro+tips as an add-on to reviews or as a new feature parallel to reviews?

The example you mentioned seems to be very generic and not super relevant to the place itself. Redundant info is not encouraged by Google Maps.

Thank you @MortenCopenhagen for reviewing and responding to my idea.

I want to see pro-tips as an new feature parallel to reviews. Because the pro-tips would be work as a differentiator in the entire review and noticeable.

Is it attainable?

Hi @AnubhaBangia

Thanks for replying.

I'm concerned that the info is not easy to evaluate objectively because much is done behind the scene.

Also, I'm afraid this is something more related to an area like a town, village, street, district and not do much the individual shops/businesses.

And it could be perceived slightly condescending to some.  So maybe your idea needs some further refinements.  But this is just my opinion. Hopefully, others will comment also.

Hi @MortenCopenhagen

Greetings of the day!

I have understood your opinion "that it can be perceived condescending to some"

If my idea does not gets implemented, there are so many reasons behind, which I think to some extent are correct.

Is there any way through which we can change our Pro-tip statement in "Bold" font? Because the Pro-tips statements might change. It depends on which thing we are adding review.

Hi again @AnubhaBangia

Having and managing reviews on Google Maps is to my understanding a huge undertaking. So creating a similar set up in parallel is probably not very realistic.

In reviews we can not make some or all the text bold. If Google wanted to they sure could let some text show on bold, but again I'm not very hopeful on your behalf.

I think it is better to seek your vision fulfilled in alternative ways. One strategy is making the environment more conducive to collecting and reuse of waste products.  It is called nudging is many places. Make the best choice the easiest choice.

I just saw this video where garbage bins starts to talk back to users in a sexy voice. Sweden is only 20 km from my current location 😍🇸🇪🤣

Hi @MortenCopenhagen

You are right in saying that this should be done in alternate ways.

I just watched the shared video. Oh My God, it is so creative way and infusing great waste collection practices. I really liked the entire thought around it. Thank you for sharing it!
