Shiv Kachari Mahadev Temple, Prayagraj – The court of Lord Shiva

On their onward journey to Chitrakoot, Ram, Laxman and Sita decided to stop at Prayag to meet Bhardwaj Rishi. The muni however refused to meet the Prince of Ayodhya since he had caused harm to a Brahmin. In order to atone for his sins, Bhardwaj advised him to create a Shivling using the sands of Ganga River and beg for forgiveness to Shiva. 

Thus began a tradition where devotees come to Kachari of Shiva to say sorry!
